A heavy transport with an escort vehicle was necessary for the 60 t building, which was manufactured on behalf of ALD-Technologies GmbH.
Over 1,700 hours of locksmith and welder hours have been invested in the construction of the welding part within the last few weeks. Milling is required to produce exact sealing surfaces and interfaces to the mounting parts. This is now being performed on one of the large-scale boring mills in mechanical engineering – Wotan Rapid 6. For the estimated processing time 8 working days in 3-shift operation were calculated. For the subsequent work, the vacuum chamber has to be brought back into the steel construction hall. The leak testing and the surface coating then take place there.
The vacuum chamber part is 8.7 m long, 4.3 m wide and 5.75 m high and will be shipped to a Chinese special steel manufacturer after the work has been completed.
