The increasing complexity of electronic, especially programmable systems cause a higher frequency of errors – e.g. in software development or operating errors. So far the functionality of machines has been realised by hardware based switches. Since a few years it has been realised by software, which makes profound safety concepts necessary.
Our functional safety team develops relevant applications and also supports the technical realisation (hardware structures and components selection) of plants and machines acc. to machine directive 200/42/EG and EN ISO 13849. Within development projects of Safety Related Embedded Software also the standard series IEC 61508 is applied.
There are different reasons for threats. On basis of a risk assessment the components are selected in cooperation with hardware specialists and the software engineering is adapted to the needs. Certified safety engineers support the project from design and realisation to CE declaration or TÜV inspection.
