The departments Bridge Construction and Civil Engineering of MAX STREICHER GmbH & Co. KG aA, together with other divisions such as Road Construction, Electrical Engineering and Digital and Municipal Infrastructure (DKI), carried out a demanding project in Regen, Lower Bavaria: the local bridge “Ludwigbrücke” was completely renovated on the bottom and top in less than seven months.
The Ludwigsbrücke in Regen has an eventful history: it was built over a century ago – between 1902 and 1905 – at the very spot where, according to historical records, a wooden bridge crossed the river Regen at the beginning of the year 1200. The bridge, later named after the Bavarian King Ludwig III., but is not only historically significant. Its role in terms of transport should not be underestimated either: leading directly into the old town, it is the city's central transport hub.
A few years ago, regular inspections showed that the bridge would need major renovation in the near future. In 2023 the time had come and the historic building was made fit for the future. In addition to the complete repair of the Ludwigsbrücke, STREICHER also took on the construction of a stormwater canal to the city center. The important transport hub was reopened in October.
