The bridge has a weight of 190 tons and will soon traverse the Berlin-Spandauer-Schifffahrtskanal in the city of Berlin without columns. On 6th October, within an impressive procedure the structure with a length of 80 meters and a width of 4.5 meters was loaded in one piece on board of a barge at the harbour in Deggendorf, Germany. The transport on the 1,600 km water route to the German capital takes about two weeks. STREICHER Tief- und Ingenieurbau Jena GmbH & Co. KG, prime contractor of senate administration for environment, traffic and climate protection Berlin, has constructed two abutments and thereby laid the foundations for the lifting of the bridge. Moreover, near to the so called „Golda-Meir-Steg“ the idea of a spacious flight of stairs at the town square of the new Europacity was realised. To realise this major project both companies of the STREICHER Group have combined their competencies due to close cooperation and show the diversity of the STREICHER Group within the business sectors special civil engineering, bridge construction, hydraulic engineering, mechanical engineering and steel structures.
